API Engineer

As a Golang Backend Engineer at Valantor, you’ll play a critical role in building and scaling the APIs and distributed systems that power our AI-driven document platform. You’ll design and implement core backend services that connect our GroundX ingestion engine, model inference systems, and customer-facing applications—turning unstructured data into structured intelligence at massive scale.

This role is deeply technical and applied—you’ll work with real data pipelines, model endpoints, and production workloads that process millions of documents. Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and distributed services using Golang, with a strong emphasis on test-driven development (TDD)

  • Develop and optimize data pipelines connecting GroundX, AI inference systems, and enterprise integrations

  • Collaborate with the AI engineering team to design scalable interfaces between document ingestion, analysis, and workflow automation

  • Write comprehensive unit tests for all new functionality and maintain high code coverage across the codebase

  • Implement performance monitoring, caching, and resilience patterns to ensure reliability in production systems

  • Participate in code reviews and test reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices for readability, maintainability, and testing rigor

  • Work cross-functionally with DevOps and customer delivery teams to deploy and support backend systems across Kubernetes environments

  • Document architectures, APIs, and testing strategies clearly to ensure reproducibility and long-term maintainability

  • Take ownership of complex systems while collaborating effectively with teammates and partners

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Golang, with experience developing APIs and distributed backend systems

  • Demonstrated experience writing comprehensive unit and integration tests for all new code

  • Familiarity with Go testing frameworks such as testing, testify, or ginkgo

  • Experience applying test-driven development (TDD) or similar practices in production environments

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservice architectures

  • Experience with MySQL, Redis, Kafka, or other data streaming systems

  • Understanding of concurrency, scaling, and system performance optimization

  • Experience integrating REST or gRPC APIs in production environments

  • Comfort working alongside systems written in Python and other languages
